Equipment
The Osteocenter is equipped with state-of-the-art technology – 2 densitometric devices with the maximum software configuration. A DXA (Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry) densitometric device allows the determination of bone mineral density in the lumbar spine, proximal femur including the neck, forearm, or whole body. These values relate to fracture risk, and according to the World Health Organization, osteoporosis is defined based on these values.
DXA examination is currently essential for initiating and monitoring osteoporosis treatment (a current condition for drug reimbursement for this indication from health insurance). Since 2012, the workplace has been equipped with and routinely uses special software for determining the TBS (trabecular bone score) parameter, which contributes to the assessment of fracture risk.
