Endocrinology Clinic
The clinic addresses endocrinological issues, for both adults, children and adolescents.
Pediatric Endocrinology Clinic provides care for pediatric patients and adolescents, covering pediatric endocrinology mainly in the following areas: thyroid diseases, growth and development disorders including puberty disorders, adrenal diseases, and childhood obesity.
Adult Endocrinology Clinic deals with the full spectrum of diseases of the endocrine glands (hormone-producing glands).
The clinic's main focus is on thyroid diseases. We examine and treat thyroid diseases (functional disorders, inflammations, thyroid enlargement). We perform differential diagnosis of nodules (cysts, malignant and benign tumors). In indicated cases, ultrasound (sonographic) examination of the neck is routinely performed, using a modern, high-quality device permanently available in the clinic.
Endocrinological issues also include diseases of the pituitary gland, adrenal glands, calcium metabolism disorders (hyper- and hypo-parathyroidism). It also involves certain diseases of the gonads; in which case we share care with urologists and gynecologists.
Additionally, based on the recommendation of specialists from other fields, we commonly diagnose so-called secondary diseases, which are diseases of other organs that may be caused by hormonal disorders, such as arrhythmia, high blood pressure, metabolic diseases, or osteoporosis.
We utilize diagnostic imaging methods available at Affidea Prague (ultrasound, bone densitometry, CT, MRI) and collaborate with other renowned diagnostic facilities when necessary: specialized laboratories of the Endocrinology Institute, General University Hospital, or specialized examinations using nuclear medicine or PET/CT methods.
If a patient's condition requires surgical intervention, we refer patients to surgical centers with the highest expertise in the specific procedure.
