Densitometry
The osteocenter is equipped with state-of-the-art technology - 2 densitometric devices of the Lunar iDXA type, with maximum software equipment. A DXA-type densitometric device (dual-energy radiation absorptiometry) enables the determination of bone mineral density in the area of the lumbar spine, the proximal end of the femur incl. neck, forearm or whole body. These values are related to the risk of fractures, and osteoporosis is defined using these values according to the World Health Organization. A DXA examination is currently necessary for the initiation and monitoring of osteoporosis treatment (current conditions for payment of medicines for this medication by health insurance). Since 2012, the workplace has been equipped with and uses as standard a special program for determining the TBS (trabecular bone score) parameter, which contributes to the assessment of the risk of fractures.
